Travel Bolivia Chile Nature

We will travel in private transport for 90% of the trip. Our route is between 5000 to 2300 meters above sea level. We start in Cochabamba and then go to our southern route visiting: Sucre, Potosi, Uyuni, Salar de Uyuni, Laguna Colorada, San Pedro de Atacama, Laguna Altiplanica, Lauca National Park, Sajama National Park, Tiahuanaco, La Paz, Valle de La Luna, etc.

Itinerary

All of Bolivia Chile 17 days

Day 1: Cochabamba.

Arrival to Bolivia. Welcome and reception at the airport with our guide and our Toyota Land Cruiser, which will accompany us all the way of our trip.

Day 2: Tour Visit Cochabamba- Quillacollo- Pairumani Sipe Inkarakay.
Visit Cochabamba - Quillacollo - Pairumani - Sipe - Inkarakay.

Day 3: Cochabamba - Tarata - Totora.
Our first visit is Tarata, 29 kilometers southeast of Cochabamba, is one of the most charming towns in the region, a picturesque and decadent beauty that is worth a visit for its noble buildings, cobblestone streets and beautiful square full of palm trees and Jacarandas. Our trip will continue until we reach our hotel in Totora.

Day 4: Aiquile Sucre.
Visit to Aiquile.

Day 5: Visit Maragna Crater - Sucre.
Visit to Maragna crater later in the afternoon. In our walk through the city we will visit the charming streets and places of importance where transcendental events of the history of Bolivia and America took place, there one can feel welcomed by the aura and beauty expressed by the neoclassical facades and the magnificent colonial churches and the main historical monuments.

Day 6: Sucre - Potosí, after visiting Tarabuco. Yotala - Millares - Betanzos.
Visit Potosí in the afternoon. At noon tomorrow we will leave for the city of Potosi. Here we start with a visit to the mining market called "Calvario" where hundreds of miners are concentrated to provide material or equipment necessary for work such as: dynamite, ammonium nitrate, detonator, carbide lamp, drill bits, coca leaves, brandy. Here you will be able to take pictures of the stores and the mining market and you will also be able to buy gifts for the miners. Later we will visit the mineral refinery "ingenios", which were active for many years, here we will be able to observe the process of amalgamation of minerals. After our visit we will continue our circuit to the silver mines, where we will observe the forced labor of the miners extracting the mineral by hand as in past centuries.

Day 7: Potosi Journey and visit to Uyuni.
Departure to Uyuni. Overnight.
After the visit to Potosi. In Uyuni we will appreciate the train cemetery and the Ojos del Salar.

Day 8: Uyuni - Isla del Pescador - San Juan.
After breakfast we will have free time until the start of the tour. Departure from Uyuni at 11:00 a.m. to the largest salt desert, in mobility (Land Cruiser - 4x4). On the way we will visit: The train cemetery, where you can see very old trains and locomotives. The town of Colchani. Located on the shores of the great Salar, serves as the main entrance to the salt desert, also known as "Puerto Seco", where you can observe the intense activity of salt extraction in an artisanal way. The villagers will show us the process of drying, grinding and packing salt.

Salt Hotel - Located in the heart of the Salar, built with blocks of salt, both exterior and interior, walls, floor, beds, tables, chairs, all salt with a beautiful view of the salt, the salt hotel, which a few years ago ceased to function as a hotel, today you can visit as a museum.Incahuasi Island (Fisherman's Island) - Located in the middle of the salt desert, Incahuasi Island is generally known as "The Fisherman's Island" populated by numerous giant cactus with heights of more than 10 meters, from the top you can see the wonderful landscape of the Salar. After our visit to the island we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will continue to our hostel in San Juan.

Day 9: San Juan - Laguna Colorada - Villa Mar.
After breakfast we will continue our adventure to Villa Mar, visiting on the way the active volcano Ollague, the lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota and Honda, lagoons that are populated by flamingos, at noon we will stop on the road for lunch and in the afternoon we will continue our journey through the desert, in the afternoon we will arrive at Villa Mar located in the National Park of Andean Fauna Eduardo Avaroa. Visit to Arbol de Piedra, Siloli deserts where we will observe an interesting rock formation known as the Arbol de Piedra, the seven colored mountain.Overnight at Laguna Colorada. Overnight in a room with private but simple bathrooms.

Day 10: Villa Mar - Laguna Colorada - Laguna Verde - San Pedro de Atacama - Valle de la Luna.
This day we will leave very early for our tour (4:00 a.m.). We will walk around the lagoon appreciating large quantities of flamingos, the red color of the lagoon is due to the sediments of zooplankton, phytoplankton. To better appreciate the Geysers - fumaroles (volcanic area), better known as "Sol de Mañana" then we will continue to the thermal baths of Polques, there we will have breakfast and then continue to the "Blanca" and "Verde" Lagoons located at the foot of the Licancabur volcano, at an altitude of 4.350 m.a.s.l., the green color is due to the high content of magnesium that the geological formations of the area have, then we cross the borders.And we spend the night in San Pedro de Atacama. Stop to photograph the Cordillera de la Sal from the viewpoint. Then, in the Moon Valley, we will visit the salt statues "Las Tres Marias", the salt mine, the viewpoint, the salt caverns and we will wait for the sunset on the big sand dune.

Day 11: San Pedro - Atacama Salt Flat in the evening night bus to Arica.

Free day to choose your activities.San Pedro is the capital of tourism in the north of Chile.

In the evening we take our night bus to Arica.

Day 12: Arica - Vicuña - Lauca.

Today we will visit Arica, its malecon, its square and surroundings.After lunch we continue our journey towards the Andes, which contrasts strongly with the blue skies.On the way we have several stops. Here we will spend the night in the Conaf Lauca refuge.

Day 13: Lauca Chungara (Lauca National Park) Sajama.
We will appreciate the sunrise and after breakfast.Today we cross the Tambo Quemado border.Then we visit the forest of queñuas "native trees" Dinner and overnight in local house.

Day 14: Sajama (Sajama National Park) La Paz. 05:30 a.m. We will begin our walk for 1 hour and a half approximately, from the town of Sajama to the geysers, in order to better appreciate the vaporization of the fumaroles, there we will have breakfast, after the visit we will continue with the walk for 2 hours to the hot springs to take advantage in taking a natural bath.12:00 p.m.We will have lunch and there our transportation will be waiting for us to return to La Paz. By route 4, arriving after 4 hours.

Day 15: Complete visit of La Paz.
In the morning City tour of the city. In this tour you will know this wonderful city, where we will appreciate the cultural, historical, architectural and natural richness. Visiting the Murillo Square, the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the San Francisco Church, etc. and in the afternoon we will appreciate the Moon Valley.This is located 15 Km. from the center of the city. The erosion has managed over the years to form a set of amazing stone formations, which give the visitor the feeling of having discovered an unknown world. A true and almost "real" lunar landscape.

Day 16: Tour Tiahuanaco - Bolivia.
Visit to the pre-Inca archaeological ruins of the Tiahuanaco culture (800 years B.C.) where you can appreciate the monoliths, the famous Sun Gate and the authentic Benett monolith, recently returned from the city of La Paz, after almost 70 years and now in the new archaeological museum. Arriving at Tiahuanaco we will visit the museum and then take a walk and visit the pyramid of Akapana, the temple of Kalasasaya, the Sun Gate, the monoliths Friar and Ponce, the semi subway temple. Day 17: La Paz.
